New Router / Modem Help Please

Hello Everyone,
I have been a PlusNet customer for over a year now and decided to upgrade to Fibre extra...  My question is,  Has anybody  changed there BT openreach modem and Technicolor router standard supply off PlusNet to a combined modem/router as I have been having a few problems.
Can anybody recommend a make and model. I need something which can handle on line gaming and HD streaming movies and day to day surfing. There is 3 users in the house,  we all have smart phones, laptops and ipads. Can anybody help Please

I can't speak for gaming, but for streaming and general internet use I use a TP-Link TD-W9980 and it works just fine.
They retail for about £75-£80, if you can find one in stock anywhere.
