Hi All,
I've only recently had my Plusnet Unlimited Fibre Extra package active, but already experiencing an issue.
With wireless connected devices, I am getting random instances of web-pages failing to load/stalling. After a minute or two, re-opening or re-loading the page it works again.
I did search the forums for previous posts with this issue, which there are a few. Some suggest changing the DNS settings, and others to ditch the Plusnet supplied router as it is not that good.
Has anyone else had this issue, and found a solution?
Thanks.

Your first action should be to separate the 2.4 and 5GHz bands, see https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/2-4ghz-and-or-5ghz-best-practice/m-p/1351966#M840
Having done this try each band and use the best.

Incidentally, if separating the frequencies is 'best practice', shouldn't Plusnet have that as the default on their router firmware?
Thanks.

Many would argue so. Note that 'best practice ' is the opinion of a fellow customer, it is not the Plusnet official position. This is the default configuration for all current BT routers, I use a BT Smarthub 6 and that is the same. The problem seems to be that some devices get confused.and flip flop between the two bands. The logic that devices can automatically connect to the best signal without needing to change SSID is great in theory but in practice it can cause all sorts of issue for some devices.
Of course this might not be the cause of your problem.

Hi @OhWell,
I'm sorry that you've been experiencing connection problems and I'm glad to hear that things are looking better now that you've separated the bands as @Baldrick1 suggested. Please let us know if there are any further issues with your connection.

I did read in some older posts people were having issues with 5GHz WiFi. Maybe it is unstable on this router, possibly fixed in future with firmware update?

Hi @OhWell
I'm glad that this is still stable - I'd say that this more a case of the devices trying to auto-switch between the two frequencies - particularly if separating these has alleviated the issue.
Let us know how you get on going forward.
Best wishes
Dave
