New Fiber Install, Speeds Dropped After Midnight

Speeds were holding steady at over 74mbits down and over 19mbits up.
And then after midnight, download dropped to around 18-20mbits.
No wireless, all wired.
I turned the wireless off.
Tried connecting to a different ip profile, no difference.

Looks like the router had a software update last night.......
Speed might settle down in the morning try another speed test when you get up

Re: New Fiber Install, Speeds Dropped After Midnight

No dice, no difference.
I could try resetting it but I don't think it would make a difference.
Or other people, would be having the same issue.
With this router.

Re: New Fiber Install, Speeds Dropped After Midnight

I got that firmware update December last year and it didn't do anything to my connection.

Re: New Fiber Install, Speeds Dropped After Midnight

Your sync speeds look good, but the BT Wholesale tests have been giving strange results recently, I got 115M / 5M the other day, but speedtest.net gave my usual close to 76/18.

Re: New Fiber Install, Speeds Dropped After Midnight

I was getting as stated in the original post.
No difference, direct to the router.
Or through 600mbit powerline adapters, using two cat6e cables.
All was good until after midnight. Sad
What I usually get.
Even worse now.

What I usually get.

First Result

Second Result

Third Test

Fourth Test

Might have been a faulty cable, going from the socket to the router.
As the old one dropped me to 4-6mbit down.
No idea, why it would fail so quickly.
Estimated line speed:
80Mb (This may vary between 74Mb and 80Mb) - Checked on 2016-01-27 17:03:13
Current line speed:
78 Mb
So I might try replacing the cat6e cable downstairs, clips are a bit loose.
That might not be helping.

Slow with cat5e
DOWNLOAD
8.91Mb/s
UPLOAD
18.83Mb/s
Update back to using cat6e cables, fixed clip issue.

Re: New Fiber Install, Speeds Dropped After Midnight

Okay getting around 60mbps down and just under 2mbps up.
The cable for the modem was screwed!
Number one, replaced it.
Secondly my TCP settings were screwed, so I fixed them.
And things seem better but I understand, I'm still within my first 10 days. Smiley

Re: New Fiber Install, Speeds Dropped After Midnight

There is no such thing as 10 day settling period for FTTC. (That is only on ADSL)
It should be full speed from day 1.
