Given that they have refused to offer the 40/10 option (and have lost users as a result) I wouldn't hold my breath!

Re: New FTTC speed 55/10 on its way in January 2016 will plusnet be offering it ?

The max achievable speed on my line is about 57Mbps, which means it's not really worth me paying for the 80Mb service. So this new product would be a pretty good fit for me.
Like spoon whittler though, I'm not getting my hopes up 😕

My BT Wholesale Broadband Performance Test
is 61mb down & 12mb up.
I started on the 80/10 but speed ended up near 55mb than 76mb , So dropped down to a 40/10 from plusnet.
Will have another look in jan to see if  there's a chance of getting it

Just came on the forums to check on this. Given PN's current of cutting costs as opposed to being a leading ISP i have my doubts.

I have just signed up for 38M as the extra for 76M is too much - and I think 38M should be a huge improvement over our current 2M on ADSL.
But a £2 increase might well interest me as the upload is significantly higher, so I encourage PN to add this to their product line

Re: New FTTC speed 55/10 on its way in January 2016 will plusnet be offering it ?

Here is an opportunity for PlusNet to move away from their ridiculous position of not offering anything faster than 2 Mbps upload for users unable to meet the requirements for the 80/20 product.
I am currently on the 40/10 product but if my only option at contract renewal is for the 40/2 product, I will be off.
Let's hope PlusNet seize the opportunity to give customers what they want (and what they are willing to pay for).

I think they'll use this as an opportunity to offer the different speeds but charge more for them than they did before.

Save me hunting! What are the current retail costs of 40/2 and 80/20?
No one has to agree with my opinion, but in the time I have left a miracle would be nice.

Re: New FTTC speed 55/10 on its way in January 2016 will plusnet be offering it ?

I would be interested in this if it was cheap enough.  But I am highly doubting it would.  Currently on a rolling month broadband only contract on the up to 76/19 package and get around 50-60 download, but I pay the old broadband only price of £19.99.  Seeing as the current fibre only prices are priced at £17.49 and £22.49 (for my area) retrospectively.  I can't see it more cheaper than £19.99.

Now that holidays are over except in Scotland - I wonder if PN could comment on this.
I think there would be quite a demand if sensibly priced

They might have to rename the current packages, unless they can think of something that goes between "Unlimited Fibre" and "Unlimited Fibre Extra".  Tongue

It seems the industry is in a bit of a mess with it's product names
As this article explains quite well.
