New EU Energy rules re Modems and Modem/routers and effect on DLM

The bureaucrats in the EU obviously don't do their research. If the new rules on automatically switching devices such as modems and modem/routers off or to a standy mode when not active in order to save energy are implemented as implied then, at present , this would undoubtedly mean anyone with a new modem or modem/router would fall foul of DLM and see their line speeds fall drastically.
I really hope that the Plusnet and other ISP's have worked out an effective strategy to deal with this.
Anyone got any comments/ideas?
