The BTW checker with further diagnostics is giving...
Download speedachieved during the test was - 18.37 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 48.3 Mbps-69.01 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 69.01 Mbps

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 1.35Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

That second link gives me a blank table when i put my number in?

Re: New Customer!

I see your IP Profile for your line is - 69.01 Mbps - are you doing tests via wireless? or wired.
This could possibly be congestion issue. You need to wait for staff to check? If you are around at 12am try a test again then to rule it out

Re: New Customer!

Hi again,
Yes the test is via wireless, however, i have done them all wireless for comparisons.
Ill try a check at 12am, however, i really do hope this isn't congestion, although even if it was, upload speed wouldn't suffer would it?

http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,126410.0.html/ <-- that will clear up who they are.
Also, sounds like you was on a bad gateway. Next time, login to the PlusNET router and click disconnect under broadband and re-connect after a short time. Rebooting the BT modem isn't a good thing  Wink
I've never rebooted mine, in the 17ish months.

Re: New Customer!

Ok, thanks for the tip about the reboot and the info(net).
Just out of interest, why is it better to reboot the router rather than the modem?

Re: New Customer!

If you reboot the BT modem too often, it will make DLM think you've got a faulty line and DLM will intervene and you may lose speed or have increase pings.
Just reboot the PN router if you have too, as DLM won't intervene. Also, disconnect and you'll get a new IP and hopefully it'll be PlusNET  Grin

Re: New Customer!

I purchased a static IP when signed up, saves all the issues people are having with IP's saying there located in a different country.
Hope you enjoy the plusnet service (partner won't swap to plusNET, so stuck with Sky ADSL)  but we get all channels, telephone, broadband and multiroom for £48 a month
I need to convince her fibre is better for gaming  Grin

Re: New Customer!

Just keep disconnecting it when she is using and tell her how much better fibre is for reliability!
Is it recommended I swap out the PN router for a tp link or similar?
I have read that the ISp supplied one isn't that good?

Re: New Customer!

At my parents (where my plusnet fibre is) I use the default router. I've no noticed a problem with it? I've also hard linked a old BE/02 router to my old bedroom and used that as a wireless access point. I've a fairly big house and some walls kill the signal, that's only downside to the router
Otherwise it's pretty stable, and it has 15 devices on the wireless (access point was for my benefits only)
