New Connection

Hi Guys,

We've just moved house and had decorators and electricians in doing various work. We're not living there yet but the broadband is now active. Can you guys tell me how many disconnects i've had over the last few weeks? The contractors tell me the power has been off and on many times while they have been doing the work and testing and it's starting to worry me! Any stats you can give me on my line would be great Smiley

Re: New Connection

Fix

Hi Phill,

Checking your connection, there's not many drops...

Testing your line is showing no issues...

Test Outcome Pass
Test Outcome Code GTC_FTTC_SERVICE_0003
Description No problem found, OAM test is not currently supported on this line.
Main Fault Location OK
Sync Status In Sync
Downstream Speed 46.1 Mbps
Upstream Speed 19.3 Mbps
Appointment Required N
Fault Report Advised N
NTE Power Status PowerOn
Voice Line Test Result Pass
Bridge Tap Not Detected
Radio Frequency Ingress Not Detected
Repetitive Electrical Impulse Noise Not Detected
Cross Talk Not Detected
Estimated Line Length In Metres 666.6
Upstream Rate Assessment Very Good
Downstream Rate Assessment Reasonable
Interference Pattern Regular Interference Observed on Week Days
Service Impact No Impact Observed
Interference Duration Longest Occurrence From 16:00 to 23:45
Interference Location Customer Premise
Interference Observed In Days 3
Home Wiring Problem Not Detected
Downstream Policing Discard Rate 0.0
Customer Traffic Level Upstream and Downstream Traffic Detected
Technology VDSL
Profile Name 0.128M-60M Downstream, Interleaving Low - 0.128M-20M Upstream, Error Protection Off

If the power cuts/drops continue and if DLM takes action to affect your connection, it should be able to recover once there's about 10 days of stability.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: New Connection

Thanks. This sort of information would be great in the PlusNet portal. I'm sure it's possible to do and limit your clients to one test a day or something like that so it doesn't get abused.

One last question, Will the downstream profile change again? When i did some initial speed tests after installation i was getting around 65Mbps.

Re: New Connection

Thanks for the feedback, I'll pass that on for you.

If you were initially getting a higher downstream speed, it could be that the drops have pushed it down. If that's the case, it should rectify itself with a bit of stability.

Re: New Connection

Is there any chance of another line check? The whole street had issues with connections yesterday and i seem to be limited again. I know i was back on fastpath after the last episode (it took about 2 weeks).

Thanks Smiley

So on the report you posted it says Error Protection Off, but it shows interleaving as the path mode and explains why the lower sync speeds.

Re: New Connection

Hopefully if the line stablises the DLM will remove interleaving again for you.
