Re: Network probs..

Hi Rongtw .. Not a promising start ..

Which gateway

Sorry, the tool failed to identify your gateway; this does not mean that anything is wrong with your connection.

Posting the following information as a reply to the Gateway Checker Issues topic in the Community forums will help us to diagnose the problem.

  • core2-hu0-18-0-0.colindale.ukcore.bt.net (62.172.103.16) 4.470 ms

Maybe they can do a bit of maintenance on this too.. Smiley

Re: Network probs..

What issues are you seeting Patti? Lets not jump to conclusions about what may be causing your issues as it may be something else, line fault, router, wifi etc.

Re: Network probs..

whilst i agree it may not be linked to present problems , The lack of information from PN makes people think its related , i am sure you have read the massive post and seen what has been said

Re: Network probs..

I am aware of the thread, unfortunately just assuming every issue is related though just muddies the waters and means any investigation takes longer.

Re: Network probs..

Hi Chris, My speeds are erratic especially at weekends, (contention issues?) they will fall and rise dramatically  i.e as low as just over 2/3 meg to a high of 42 meg (never achieved the 55 meg so far) I can see the drop in upload perfectly well .. My main question is the instability of the speeds. Wired and unwired makes no difference. Why do they drop like a stone and then rise again? It's annoying to say the least and I have really noticed how slow everything is loading? That is the basis of my question regarding maintenance, and whether, as other have mentioned slow loading problems are being looked into?   Can you clarify what the maintenance is actually for please.. to fix what exactly? I know I am not alone in experiencing problems.

Re: Network probs..

The maintenance isn't to fix anything as far as I know, it's planned work to make back-end changes such as moving IPs between gateways and similar. We advise customers of the maintenance as sometimes we need to do some disconnections as part of it.

If the speeds are slower mainly in the evenings and weekends, it points to a congestion issue at the cab/exchange level quite often. I'd advise getting a fault reported to us at https://faults.plus.net

When the speeds are low can you run a BT Speedtest for me, ensuring you do the further diagnostics test after the first one completes. This stores the results on the supplier system and allows us to use this to report the fault.
