Mysterious device on network

I was set up with Plusnet fibre yesterday, and while exploring my home network, a device listed as Occam mobile phone appeared on the network; this is sometimes identified as a Nexus 4.  The device appears from time to time and I can get a mac number and little else before it goes away.  I find it hard to believe that I have been hacked within a few hours of installation, so I wonder whether this device is part of the line monitoring to optimise broadband speed; alternatively a piece of test equipment used by the Openreach installation team and not disconnected.
Can anyone cast light?

Re: Mysterious device on network

First thing i'd look at is the wireless network secured if not then anyone could be piggy backing onto your connection.

Not particularly conclusive but these may provide some further info: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windowsrt8_1-networking/unknown-device-occam-shows-...; http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1668867/network-hacked.html
