I've noticed that when I had my internet installed about 6 years ago now it started out as a 52 download and a 11 upload now its more like 44 down and 6 up I was wondering if there any staff about that maybe you could run a line check for me because it seems a little weird to me
Fixed! Go to the fix.

Welcome to the forums
Plusnet offered 80/20, 55/10 and 40/10 depending on when you joined them and if you've renewed your contract.
80/20 is still available
55/10 has been reduced to 40/10, though some customers complained and some have been able to retain 55/10
40/10 was reduced to 40/2, but customers weren't too happy about this, so Plusnet went back to 40/10
If you've renewed and didn't spot the 55/10 reducing to 40/10 then depending on when you renewed, you're probably stuck with it.
You could also be having speed issues too, but it might be worth looking at when you last renewed and whether you have an email from Plusnet stating they were reducing you to a lower speed package.

@DS 55/10 was never a product offered by PN.
They did use the 80/20 service to provide either a 76/20 or 38/20 product until the bean counters noticed!
38/20 customers were told they would be moved to a 55/10 product about 3/4 years ago, seems that project still has not completed!
At the same time, new customers were offered 76/20 or 38/2, the latter proving very unpopular and so in line with other ISP's, not least Talk Talk were moved to 38/10.
It seems to me, the OP was on, and probably still is on the extra product, but unless they share some meaningful facts/sync speeds its all a bit subjective.

I could've sworn I'd read somewhere on here that someone on PN actually started to get the 55/10 deal.
Anyhoo, thanks for the correction

Hi @SteveWilliams61,
Thank you for getting in touch. I'm sorry to hear that your speed has dropped.
I can see that you're provisioned on the 80/20 fibre but, due to the length of the line, your estimated download speed is 40.4-59.2mbps.
I've tested your line and it's currently syncing at 49.7mbps, however the connection profile on your account is set to 45mbps. As you have a static IP, this connection profile is restricting your throughput speed to a maximum of 45mbps. If you reboot your router you should find that this increases.
