Moved from Fibre Unlimited to Fibre Unlimited Extra. When will I see a difference?

Hi I moved yesterday from Fibre Unlimited to Fibre Unlimited Extra. I checked the connection speed on my PlusNet Home Hub and it is still 27Mb Down / 7 Mbits up as it was before.

I restarted the Home Hub and there was no change. Just wondering when I should expect to see some change.

Many thanks
David

Re: Moved from Fibre Unlimited to Fibre Unlimited Extra. When will I see a difference?

Can you provide the router stats.max attainable rate.
Judging by your speeds at 27meg down. It doesn't look like you could get any higher speeds, that's why I asked what the maximum attainable rates are.
You could check the link below by inputting your telephone number and seeing the BT results for you line.

Re: Moved from Fibre Unlimited to Fibre Unlimited Extra. When will I see a difference?

Hi I have attached a picture with the outcome of the broadband checker.

Not sure how to get the statistics from the Home Hub. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'll get them.

These are the only stats I could see from the helpdesk page of the home hub:

1. Product name: Plusnet Hub
2. Serial number: +081441+NQ04406611
3. Firmware version: Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.263 Last updated Unknown
4. Board version: Plusnet Hub One
5. DSL uptime: 0 days, 01:32:26
6. Data rate: 7637 / 28678
7. Maximum data rate: 7637 / 43404
8. Noise margin: 6.1 / 12.1
9. Line attenuation: 32.3 / 20.4
10. Signal attenuation: 31.5 / 18.4
11. Data sent/received: 159.0 MB / 2.5 GB

Re: Moved from Fibre Unlimited to Fibre Unlimited Extra. When will I see a difference?

From those stats your upload speed can’t really go much higher but your download speed can although I’m not sure if it’s worth being on fibre extra over standard fibre.

Either way though try plugging your router into the test socket explained here https://community.plus.net/t5/Library/Testing-From-The-Master-Socket/ba-p/1322242 and see if your stats change.

Also if you put your landline number into the BT checker here https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL what’s the estimates of your line show as under the row VDSL (Clean)?

[edit]

Just seen the picture now. Depending on the outcome of using the test socket, it may be worth downgrading back to standard fibre and/or raising a fault at faults.plus.net asking for an engineer visit to investigate further.

Re: Moved from Fibre Unlimited to Fibre Unlimited Extra. When will I see a difference?

Thanks for your help. I opened a call with Plusnet who did the master socket diagnostics and have now raised a fault call with BT Openreach. Let's see what happens now...

Re: Moved from Fibre Unlimited to Fibre Unlimited Extra. When will I see a difference?

BT Openreach engineer booked for 4th January 2021 so lets see what happens. I don't think they will be able to do much inside the house as there wasn't a change between when the router was plugged in normally, and when it was plugged directly into the master socket. Let's see what happens....

Unfortunately a follow up. Since I last posted my line speed has dropped.
