Miniupnpd problem with router ASUS DSL-AC68U

I've switched to an ASUS DSL-AC68U router connected via ethernet cable to the OpenReach modem.  Connection is PPPoE (I have FTTP so can't plug the fibre optic cable in.)  All seems to be well, except that the log is filling up with the following messages:

You can see the frequency, and it is hour after hour with no break.  The IP address relates to my iMac on OS X Yosemite.  I suspect it's an application that's causing the issue but I don't know how to debug this: how can I tell what is trying to access/open/listen/whatever on port 740?  Google doesn't really help except that I can see this message seems to occur in other's log file (irrespective of router) but not to the same frequency.  At a loss, any ideas?
Thanks
Andrew

Re: Miniupnpd problem with router ASUS DSL-AC68U

740 isn't a port, it is just the process ID of the miniupnpd running on the router.
What is happening is that the iMac is requesting that a port be opened in the firewall, but is not ending that request cleanly and that unclean request is being logged.

Re: Miniupnpd problem with router ASUS DSL-AC68U

There's only one entry in the forwarded ports and that's to another device - Remote Play for PS Vita.  Should have worked out that it was a process id, duh.  Is there any way of working out what on the iMac is asking for a port to be opened?

Re: Miniupnpd problem with router ASUS DSL-AC68U

I'm beginning to suspect the process discoveryd which is responsible for all upnp requests (amongst other things.)  It's a new process in Yosemite, replacing mdnsrespond and seems to have a number of problems.  I'd be very interested to see if there are any other OS X users not on Yosemite having this problem; and users on Yosemite who are.  I've read an article that explains how to swap back to mdnsrespond but I don't think that's a viable long term option, although it may help verify that the cause is discoveryd.

Re: Miniupnpd problem with router ASUS DSL-AC68U

Which firmware version are you using?
I have a suspicion this is from the Find My Mac service.

Re: Miniupnpd problem with router ASUS DSL-AC68U

version is 3.0.0.4.376_2187-ga4cd5db - it seems to be the latest.  I also thought Find My Mac and Back to My Mac but it happens when those are turned off - actually, BTMM is never on.  If I look at Network activity in Activity Monitor, findmymacd doesn't appear to be sending/receiving any packets but discoveryd is, and regularly, which I sort of would expect.

Re: Miniupnpd problem with router ASUS DSL-AC68U

I thought Little Snitch might help.  Installation requires a reboot which I did at midday and there have been zero messages in the router log since then.  Looks like a process needed restarting but goodness knows what.
