Low throughput compared to sync speed

I've just had a DLM reset on my line and now have a sync speed of 68699kbps downstream after being stuck at 55000 kbps for a while.
However my throughput has stuck at just below 50000kbps the same as it was before.
Looking at another post apparently plusnet can apply line shaping at their end and I'm wondering if that's what I'm seeing and my line is being limited to 50/20.

Is it possible for someone from plusnet to investigate this is or suggest another reason for the issue?

Re: Low throughput compared to sync speed

Hi @vernon123

The Plusnet profile only impacts those with a static IP.

From memory I *think* Plusnet run a script every few hours to align the Plusnet profile with the BT IP profile.

but it can get stuck...

What is the BT IP profile for your line?

https://speedtest.btwholesale.com/details

Run the speedtest, then select the additional diagnostic, enter your phone number etc...

Regards

Richard

Re: Low throughput compared to sync speed

The ip profile is 50.67.
At the beginning of the year my throughput was around 56 but dropped after some stability issues.
I did have a fixed ip at one point for a work vpn and I never cancelled it so I'm assuming it's still fixed.
My stability problems were caused by my Asus dsl-ac68u modem router but I've now switched to a Huawei echolife hg612 3b modem in bridge mode and seem to have a very stable connection.
I believed that normally throughput was within 10% of sync speed.

Re: Low throughput compared to sync speed

Until the BT IP profile increases you will be stuck with a maximum throughput of 50 Mbps.

The BT IP profile does appear to be low for your current synch speed.

Can you post the modem connection statistics?

Re: Low throughput compared to sync speed

Quick update,
ip profile for download is now 63.29 but throughput still won't go above 50.
If anybody at plusnet could look into this that would be great.

Re: Low throughput compared to sync speed

Hi

As the BT IP profile has increased then things are going in the right direction.

Assuming your are using a separate router with HG612, disconnect the the routers PPPoE session with Plusnet and reconnect.

It can sometimes kick the Plusnet profile to match the BT IP profile.

Re: Low throughput compared to sync speed

Cheers Richard,
Good call on that, rebooted the router and achieved 58.7 Mbps downstream.
Hopefully this new setup will prove stable long term.
Thanks again.
