Low level packet loss.

For the last 2-3 days I've been seeing low level packet loss almost 24/7 but worsening each evening. This is after about 3 weeks of good results with no packet loss at all.
My TBB results still show normal results for me at around 37Mbps down and 7.3Mbps up with around 15ms latency except that the single threaded result is lower and more erratic than the multi-threaded one.
It's not causing a problem at the moment - just hope that it's not going to be the top of a 'slippery slope'. Seems like just when things are going well problems start all over again or am I just being unnecessarily pessimistic?

Re: Low level packet loss.

What was the previous cause of the issue?

Re: Low level packet loss.

Never been able to put my finger on cause/s. In the past I've gateway hopped to get off the 'bng' ones but this time I've stuck with ptw-bng01 for "26 days 01:49:45" according to my router log and it's been fine, but now the TBB quality monitor is showing packet loss which I've not seen for quite a while.

Re: Low level packet loss.

Can you post your TBB monitor?
It might be worth seeing if changing gateways makes and difference.

Can you check your IP Profile?

Re: Low level packet loss.

I'm on 40/20 and BTW test showed the following-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download Speed
37.88 Mbps

Max Achievable Speed
46.9 Mbps
Download speed achieved during the test was - 37.88 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 32.83 Mbps-46.9 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 46.9 Mbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
7.07 Mbps

Max Achievable Speed
20 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 7.07Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My PlusNet connection details say ,
"Estimated line speed:
There's no speed estimate currently held on your account.
Current line speed:
    40 Mb"

Re: Low level packet loss.

Looking at your graph, the PPP drop resulted in a slight latency increase. I was wondering if that's related to the gateway you're connected to (and the routing) or your connection to the DSLAM.
Need to see if the packet loss returns though first.

Looks as if it has made a difference - http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results.html?id=143056866205953371040 - nice straight lines on speed test but latency is up to 20ms not that that makes much difference to me. I'll see what the next 24 hrs shows.
p.s. bit of an overlap of posts there  Smiley
p.p.s. 8hrs after hopping and it certainly looks as if it was a gateway problem - no more red up to now  Smiley

Re: Low level packet loss.

Seems like it was a gateway issue. No more packet loss showing since I 'hopped' http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share-large/465f3a3f714d8a5b48af4a0f773a502b.png and nice straight lines on the speedtest http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results.html?id=14306388680467535598.
