Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

As you say, the sync speeds are fine:
Downstream Speed 23.4 Mbps
Upstream Speed 3.1 Mbps

Are you running wired or wireless?

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

Hi Chris
I am wired for the vast majority of my equipment in the house.  The primary user is my Youview box for Plusnet TV.
I run my speed tests from a wired HP Microserver.

It has been getting noticeably slower despite the sync speed showing the same.  Upload seems to have been unaffected.
I noticed pixelation and the quality warning message on my Plusnet TV service for the first time today when it was the only IP channel being used.

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

You know things are bad when All 4 on Youview is buffering every 10 seconds on its awful low bandwidth service.

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

Speed tests indicate a typical download speed of under 1Mbps since around 5 this morning.

A reboot of the router later and we're testing at 22.5Mbps again. I hope it sticks around now!

Back to 8-10Mbps for the weekend.

Not sure what has been done but as of 21:00 on December 30th we've been back on 22Mbps. Smiley

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

Speed is still steady around 22Mbps download, but I'm getting signal error messages and sound and image breakup on BT Sport HD (and other HD) channels.

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

Signal has dropped off again since the start of May and I'm lucky to get a stable 12Mbps download speed. It's regularly been much slower and I have had connection drop outs daily which can take some time to reconnect. Around 30 minutes tonight.

Down again most of this morning so far. Syncs at 15Mbps when on briefly. Looks like I could do with some line testing please Plusnet.

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

Microfilter mk2 plate swapped out for a generic Microfilter and instant resync at 15Mbps and a reasonable 13db. Maybe a filter problem this time? Let's see.

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

My speeds have varied at lot since my last post. Nothing positive though, always well below the theoretical speeds I should have and did have. Over the last few days the speed tester has shown steady 12Mbps then up to 16Mbps for a couple of days and today down to 8 and then 5Mbps this evening.
It seriously needs checking out elsewhere. It's impossible to use my TV subscription on such a slow service.
SNR is on 6db for both send and receive.

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

Thank you. I have a feeling that there has been a repair on the line somewhere before for similar reasons.
