I can only think that the line has deteriorated somewhere.

That would be my assumption too.
Do you ever use the landline? See if there's any correlation between you using the phone and the line dropping/re-syncing. Also listen out on the line for any audible crackling. If you get crackling you're in luck as that will warrant an engineer visit - potentially to replace the copper, or to double-check any joins/junctions.
I suffered from a crackling line in the past - plays havoc with xDSL on a seemingly random basis. Took me months to diagnose as we never used the landline.

We never use our landline anymore for voice calls.  I'll hook up the phone again and see how it is getting on.  Fingers crossed for some noise! Smiley

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

Landline phone plugged in and it sure is noisy. I struggled to hear the 1571 lady over it. I guess I'm in need of a visit for some line troubleshooting.
My phone is plugged into the filtered socket of the master socket. There are no other devices or extensions/cables connected to the master socket bar the Draytek router.

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

I should also add that the line speed has dropped sufficiently that I can now only via the SD BTSport channels and not the HD ones. This with no other Internet activities occurring on the broadband connection.

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

How do I go about getting a support ticket registered for this?

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

One thing to try.
I had an issue with 'dirt / dust' inside the VDSL faceplace causing internet drop out and poor phone quality.    I opened the VDSL face place and sprayed the plug connection with electronic contact cleaner, solved the issue totally.

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

Alternative filter connected and no change and the DSL has now synchronised at 9999Kbps, so down by about another 2Mbps.
Definitely something going wrong on the Openreach network responsible section of the connection.

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

Down to sub 9000Kbps DSL sync speed last night.
Doing basic confirmation tests tonight before an engineer visit is booked.

Good news!
Tests have shown a fault in the copper network somewhere between the cab and house. Smiley

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

Bad news, sort of.  I had a call from an OpenReach engineer yesterday morning, out of the blue.  He needed access to check the line and no one had told me, so I was out and not able to get back.
It's all progress, just could be better coordinated.

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

Good news.  It appears the engineer was able to fix the line issue without accessing my house.
Back to 18.5Mbps download speeds again Smiley

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

Update. After a few days my connection surprisingly went up to about 22.5Mbps. That was maintained until December 7th since when it has plummeted again to around 13Mbps, which is totally unpractical with the Plusnet TV service.
Line sync speed is showing in my router at 23Mbps and SNR either 6 or 7db up or down.

Re: Low SNR on FTTC causing very low speeds and connection drops.

Shouldn't have rebooted my router. Sync info all the same, but speeds down to 8.5Mbps now. 6db both ways.
