Losing the will to live - connection problems

Been with plusnet since November 2016 and have had nothing but problems!

The technician has been round and sorted out the speed but the intermittent connection problems persist.

Some days are ok but today the Internet has been unusable... dial up was better than the "fibre" service I had today.

I have had enough!

Posted results from speed tests taken throughout the day!

Re: Losing the will to live - connection problems

Hello @Parkview74

Sorry to hear your having issues with your broadband. I'm not picking up any issues when testing your line:

Sync Status In Sync
Downstream Speed 40.0 Mbps
Upstream Speed 2.0 Mbps

Your connection from your exchange to your router is also pretty stable too:

Are you connecting wirelessly or using a wired connection?

This is my personal Community Forum account to help out around these parts while I'm at home. If I'm posting from the 1st March 2020, this means I'm off-duty with no access to internal systems.

Also looks like the wifi signal shows the wifi strength as the icon changes, quite a few of them are showing 1 bar of wifi signal.

If you can test wired it will help give consistent results and help with the diagnosis.

Re: Losing the will to live - connection problems

I mainly use wireless but have tried everything suggested to me so far to improve the wireless connection. Eg, changing the channel, only using the 2.4ghz band, re-locating the hub, etc. The technician even checked for interference when he was here and said that was definitely not the issue.

However I still get many drop outs, a problem which I never had when I was with Sky's normal broadband which only gave me around 10mbs.

Reading the forum it seems that many others have been experiencing similar wifi problems.

Would purchasing another router improve things for me do you think. This router has been suggested on another post:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TP-LINK-TD-W9970-N300-Wireless

but for someone who had the hub 0, rather than the hub 1 which I have.

Would that router solve/help my wireless issue?

Thanks
