A non-unlocked HG612 does not need any updates, stop confusing people!

I've dropped a note over to one of the faults specialists working tomorrow to check up on what's happening.

Re: Line check

Our suppliers have resolved a capacity issue at your exchange although that's not the reason why your speeds have dropped.
Your current profile is "0.128M-80M Downstream, Retransmission Low - 0.128M-20M Upstream, Retransmission Low" and your syncing at 69.6 mbps.
Whilst this is a bit lower then what you've had in the past we can't raise it to our suppliers I'm afraid as it isn't that big of a drop. They'll only investigate cases where the sync speeds have dropped below 25% of the original estimate and if the drop is down to crosstalk there isn't any way that can be resolved at present.
If this post resolved your issue please click the 'This fixed my problem' button

Re: Line check

Well why is it lower? Whats changed ? Why all of a sudden have you removed 12 meg from my speeds? Im a customer to you not BT. I expect plusnet to give me what ive been paying for over the past 4-5 months. You gave and now you take Sad

Re: Line check

At no point has either ADSL or FTTC been advertised by anybody as an exact speed to my knowledge.  It has always been an "up to" speed.
I prefer to think of it as I'm passing to download x (or unlimited) gigabytes of data peer month and the speed at which it happens is less important.
As long as it is sufficiently fast enough to do whatever you need to without any problems; does 74 or 68 or 70 mb/s really make that much difference?  I would have thought it would make very little in most cases with downloads still taking prey much the same time?
The issue with BT is a bit like that with your energy suppliers.  You get a power cut.  Do you ring npower?  No.  You contact the company responsible for the network such as Central Power Networks (I think that is the name of one of them).  The difference with broadband is that you have to go via your provider to stay with who will then escalate it to the network provider which in this case is a division of British Telecom.

Whats your latency like now?
---
ETA I dont think its a g.inp issue because of the line profile done earlier in the thread, but just wanted to rule out once and for all.
This is possibly more likely crosstalk, but its hard to tell anything without linestats.

Pings are now fine again, but i dont understand why i have a speed drop of 12 meg ... i could understand 1-2 meg drop but 12 .... :S
