Line Speed down 7Mbps

My download speed has reduced yet again.

My modem is saying the attainable is still the same however.

Previously my actual rate was almost identical to the attainable.

Attainable Rate (Kbps) 20066

Today !

Download speedachieved during the test was - 12.63 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 9.13 Mbps-13.04 Mbps .
 Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 13.04 Mbps

Can someone tell me whats going on please ?

Thanks

J

Re: Line Speed down 7Mbps

Testing your line isn't showing anything obviously wrong other than the sync rate dropping. It's worth getting a fault reported at https://faults.plus.net ^CP

Re: Line Speed down 7Mbps

I've logged a fault but no response about it.

I have noticed what i think is the issue though.

Previously my SNR was 6.2 when i was getting a rate of 17877.

Now my SNR is 11.2 so it has nearly doubled.

Wouldn't that be caused by a fault on the line ?

Re: Line Speed down 7Mbps

Very likely. The SNR has probably increased to deal with the increased noise on the line.

Is the white noise still there? As your line is synced within the estimate range if we pass this through as a broadband fault it's likely to be rejected, so if the noise is still there on your phone line it's probably worth us looking at that route, however it's likely to need an engineer booking as testing isn't finding any issues.

Re: Line Speed down 7Mbps

Thanks Chris

I'll check the line when i get in.

It was very noisy last friday when i received a call that i had to call the person back.

They said they could also hear "white noise".

Re: Line Speed down 7Mbps

How odd 😕

Just checked again and its changed once more.

SNR is now 6.3

Download speedachieved during the test was - 16.41 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 11.97 Mbps-17.1 Mbps .
 Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 17.1 Mbps

Something weird is happening for it to jump around like that.
