Hello!
I have posted to another topic in this forum with the same issue (https://community.plus.net/t5/Fibre-Broadband/My-Ping-and-I/td-p/1619224).
I am experiencing intermittent latency issues if Netflix and or other streaming services are running. Like many others I enjoy online games and find it nearly impossible to play with the latency issues as its just not fun.
This is a recent development, as of the last month or so. I have tried multiple fixes, including different routers. I have a standalone AP for WiFi, and router with multiple QoS options. I have limited selected devices that are streaming to 3000kb down, 500kb up, which has made absolutely no difference, I have even created a 10mb buffer to the line which is currently synced at 70mb/18mb, again no difference.
The main culprit appears to be Netflix, even with the limited speeds it causes spikes up to 200ms every few seconds whilst in a game.
The only thing thats not been tested is the openreach modem (has been restarted several times).
It also appears that there are threads popping up with the same issues on other forums, also the sister company BT:

I have tried everything to fix this problem, and support have informed me theres no issues with the line (no surprise there really).
Any thoughts on the matter? has anyone managed to fix a similar problem yet?
Thanks

Hi @Siledag,
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing these issues. I've tested your line today and I'm unable to detect any faults with the speed, with it coming into the property at a downstream sync speed of 74Mbps and an upstream sync speed of 20Mbps. The one thing I would ask for clarification is whether or not you're noticing the issue occurring across devices connecting via both Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections? If possible, (assuming it hasn't already been tried) I would recommend connecting via an Ethernet connection where possible to see if it eliminates the latency spikes.

Thanks @TheMightyAJ, the speed is higher now, sitting at 53 up and 13 down. Speed tests are from ethernet, as for the spikes theres no change to them unfortunately.

Hi @Siledag,
Thank you for confirming that your speed has improved somewhat, I'm sorry that you're still experiencing latency spikes. Testing your line still isn't picking up the cause of the problem from here so we'll need to do some troubleshooting to start ruling things out.
I'd recommend starting with basic checks here. If these checks don't resolve the problem, the next step would be to connect your router directly to the test socket, which is under the faceplate of your master socket and seeing if the connection stabilises This rules out internal wiring, face plates and extension sockets as being the cause. Please see the guide here for instructions on how to connect to the test socket.
Please let us know if this issue persists when the router is connected to the test socket.
