Hi there, I've been a Plusnet broadband customer for at least a couple of years and recently decided to upgrade to the 40 Mb/s fibre connection as my older connection was being a bit overworked by the number of people trying to use it.
I'm pleased to say that the engineer came today to sort out the upgrade (several hours late of the timeslot, but better late than never I guess...) and my connection is up and running again.
However, I ran a check on speedtest to see where we stood and whilst my upload is now at an extremely pleasing 18ish Mb/s my download doesn't seem to have actually changed at all.
Do I need to wait a bit longer for my connection to be switched over or what's going on?
I ran a speedtest last night before going to bed so that I could have some comparison.
Old Connection: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3897050081
New Connection: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3898527481
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
It looks like some finishing touches were needed on our side. At 18:38 your speed profile changed over to fibre (from DSL speeds).
The connection should automatically restart at your new speeds, but if you want to hurry it up, log into your router, drop your internet connection and then re-connect. It should sort it for you.
Then enjoy fibre
Tony

OK, just tried that and got this http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3899011806. Wasn't sure exactly what was going on because the engineer just sort of came and left without saying much. Maybe he was having a bad day.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

No it was wired. The connection doesn't seem to be very stable at the moment. Speedtests are indicating a very large range of download speeds from as low as 1 Mb/s up to the 24 Mb/s I linked before. I'm the only person in the house using the connection at the moment. Is that something that will level off?

I wouldn't worry about the occasional odd result, they can happen from time to time. Hopefully your speeds will start to level out just under the 40Mb you should be able to receive.
