Is it time to move on?

Had nothing but issues with my internet wifi with streaming etc... wifi dropping and all sorts of issues.
I recently signed back up and was told my billing date will be changed to 14th of each month, but found out plusnet had taken the payment on the 1st and also charged me extra 10 pound.
An error I was told.
I also explained about the issues I have with the router and asked for another one as I signed up again but I was refused.
Not sure why because if I was to go elsewhere I would get free equipment (working).
I've been a customer for around 4 years and my loyalty with plusnet is getting me nowhere.
Time to cancel as I'm within the time limit to cancel or is there any way to fix this useless router

Re: Is it time to move on?

Welcome to the forums @SUPRAASH

Have you altered the routers wifi settings in any way?

(things like unsyncing the wifi and possibly renaming the 5GHz SSID)

Can you please post up the router software version and the date it was installed?

(click this http://192.168.1.254 and scroll to the bottom of the page)

I can't help you with billing issues.

Re: Is it time to move on?

Hi thanks for the reply.
I haven't messed with any wifi settings at all because I'm not sure what's best.
Its software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.263
And updated 19/02/19

Re: Is it time to move on?

There are some users reporting issues with the latest router software (yours is the latest).

The following might not help, but this is what's normally suggested to do first:

Have a read of this and then try what's suggested here and see if things improve.

If this improves it then great, but if it doesn't help then you might also be seeing the affects of the software.

Do you think the wifi issues started around the date the software was installed?

Re: Is it time to move on?

I'll have a look and see.
No mate I've always had issues with this router.
I'm on the highest package and have slow issues and wifi dropping out. Having to reboot It daily to help slightly

Re: Is it time to move on?

Being as you've always had issues, then those links just might well solve the WiFi
(plus I hope they do)

Once you've done them, give it a few days and if the WiFi is still poor, let me know and we'll go from there.

Re: Is it time to move on?

Hey @SUPRAASH it's no problem

(I do this for the love, they do it coz they're paid - but some staff post in their own time too)

Don't get carried away, but see if there's a pattern with the wifi side of things

(after splitting/unsyncing and renaming, you'll have a good idea if it fails, as it'll be mainly the 5GHz devices that get either kicked from the router or they won't connect at all)

Should this happen, click the following http://192.168.1.254/index.cgi?active_page=9105

On the wireless network enable, instead of the default of yes, select no and click apply

(ignore the warning messages, it's normal)

This will turn off the 5GHz and put a red light on the router, ignore this or put tape over it, then see if wifi starts to work....
