Internet keeps dropping / poor wifi

I am at my wits end.  Our internet keeps dropping and pages take forever to load.  Sometimes even when the device is in the same room as the hub.  My teenage boys are driving me nuts because they say the internet keeps dropping and they lose there connection while playing xbox games.  I have tried all the suggested help but I'm at a loss.  Any help gratefully appreciated,

Re: Internet keeps dropping / poor wifi

Welcome to the forum @prettyinpink

Unfortunately this could be down to all sorts of things. Next time that it happens, it would be worth looking at the Hub to see what lights are on; that will help work out whether it is a problem with the line or with your wifi. From what you say in your post you think that it is a wifi problem and you have tried the advice at https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/getting-the-best-wifi-signal/ .

If it is wifi, then there is a known issue with the Hub for some people. It is broadcasting on 2 frequencies. Some equipment gets confused if both frequencies have the same name. The way around this is to give each a different name. There is an explanation of how to do this in this link:  https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Devices-stop-working-on-5-GHz-connection-Wifi-drops/m-p/1395...

Please come back here and let us know if this does/doesn't help..

 @prettyinpink

Assuming that you have a hub 1 as you have  mentioned 5ghz , have you tried rebooting the router?

If so how often are you having to do this ?

The 5ghz WiFi on the hub one is , in my view  , flakey at best , so you could try disabling it and see if that helps.

Re: Internet keeps dropping / poor wifi

Use a programme* to analyse wifi activity in your locale; ensure frequency the hub uses, is the one showing
no traffic (other users) ideally.
*inSSIDer.

(You posted in wrong thread; should be in MY ROUTER).
