Re: Internet issues.

Just looked at my router admin page to see if anything happened while I was sleeping, turns out I've had YET ANOTHER disconnect with at least 15 minutes of PPP Server No Response, probably longer than that but my router doesn't scroll that far.
Anyone care to look into this further?
EDIT; Time of disconnects were prior  to 11:10am (this is when it the connection came back up) according to my router.
Router log in case it helps any;

Re: Internet issues.

This warrants a reply.
Spoken with my father, who informed me that the connection went down sometime in the early morning, according to him around 1-2am was when his ps3 notified of a connection error, he couldn't get connected at all this morning either before he left the house, he's only recently returned so this is fresh news to me.
If the connection was down for that entire period, estimated 9hrs, then you guys really need to take a serious look at this one.

Re: Internet issues.

Hi Method0ne,
As per our discussion on Twitter, you can see a graph of your connection logs below. Stability seems to be good aside from the odd drop every few days. It certainly doesn't fit the profile of what we would normally class as an intermittent connection fault which can contain hundreds of drops and reconnections over the course of a day or even a few hours however this doesn't detract from the fact that there are still drop occurring.

Re: Internet issues.

Firstly thanks for the responses.
While I agree it may not seem so bad, up until the 13th of this month I'd never to the best of my knowledge had any drops at all, and when coupled with the fact that it can take minutes for the connection to return to stable (nearly 45 minutes the first time it happened, 2-15 minutes every other time I've noticed it) it makes me wonder whether this is something that's going to increase in frequency and severity.
There has to be something causing this, and from the errors my router log produces, notably the PPP Server No Response, I can only surmise this is something outside of my control.
Hopefully someone can nail this down and fix whatever the issue is, and if there's anything I can do to help I will, I just have nothing to go on.

Re: Internet issues.

At the request of support staff I've just swapped out to the PN supplied Technicolor TG582n, got my network set up, connected to the internet using it, and within 2 minutes of doing so the router rebooted of it's own accord with no intervention.
That's not a good start.
Also doesn't help that the control interface is slower than your average turtle.

Re: Internet issues.

Just had YET ANOTHER random disconnection, this time with the plusnet supplied router, proving that it's not my hardware or anything at my end that is at fault.

Re: Internet issues.

Hi,
Just to confirm, the latest drop (1531) was our side dropping you (Admin reset) usually done if the profile speed changes.
The 1040 drop is unexplained, but it's worth keeping an eye on the situation a little bit longer so we can see the drops over the course of the night/weekend/week.

Re: Internet issues.

Here's an interesting flaw in trying to monitor my connection status with the TG582n, after a couple of days having it connected I could no longer get access, either wired or wifi, to the web interface. Internet access wasn't affected, but as I was unable to monitor for any drops this was not an ideal situation.
I've had to do a reset of the router to get monitoring back, but since this wasn't a clean disconnect if I get another random drop or if the web interface fails again I'm going to be looking at DLM intervention where it isn't needed. Swapping back to the PN supplied hardware was supposed to help diagnose this problem but frankly if I can't monitor my connection then what good does it do.
