Internet dropped and oppened a web browser by itself.

Hi,

On 19/07/17 3.03am I was playing a game on steam and I noticed the plusnet router next to me was flashing orange (Hub one) so I exited my game to see what was going on.  The windows network icon had a yellow "!" and my default browser - firefox had opened all by itself (i'm 100% sure I did not have one open before exiting the game) it is a Wired connection no-script blocked whatever it was trying to do which seemed to be trying to open the router page? - http://dsldevice.lan. then redirect to a microsoft site? im not great with scripts so I don't understand exactly what it was doing so please take a look at the attached image at the bottom of this post.

After around 30secs or so the internet was working again and everything was as normal as far as I could tell.  Now my question - Why did the browser open on its own? this was a little concerning at first since this could be a symptom of malware but after doing some research I have found this may happen on windows 8.1/10 because of a reg setting "EnableActiveProbing 1" or "web browsing interception" on routers does anyone know anything about this?

THANK YOU for reading and if anyone can help put my mind at ease it would appreciate it!

I have attached an image to this topic make it clear what exactly I saw.

Re: Internet dropped and oppened a web browser by itself.

Ok so I found some more topics close to this issue most of these seem to be on login but are very similar:

https://serverfault.com/questions/695874/default-browser-opens-to-msn-com-when-logging-into-windows-...

Is it possible when the router/connection messed up my WIN10 mistakenly assumed a "captive portal" was in effect so it opened the browser or something like that? - I dont really know much at all about networking so some of these terms I have come accross I don't really understand.

Thanks again if anyone can shed any light on this.
