Glad I inspire someone! @martin1959
If you ever want to see your profile set by openreach, you can do the following:
Go to speedtest.btwholesale.com , run the speed test.
Then click on Additional Diagnostic , click on Telephone Number (DN)
Enter in your landline phone number for your plusnet phone line
Then click Run Diagnostic
That page will list your profile openreach have set on your download/upload.
I'm sure Plusnet can also just provide that information ^

There are a few potential causes for this:
1. Your line has been banded and you need Plusnet to request a DLM reset.
2. You have a static IP address and Plusnet have set an incorrect profile.
3. You have too many errors on your line.
Have you tried a factory reset by pushing a paperclip or similar in to the hub reset hole, keeping the switch closed for about 30 seconds?

Good evening @martin1959
Thanks a lot for reaching out and I'm sorry for the recent drop in sync speed. You're right, it does look the line is being banded. The line itself can actually achieve speeds of up to around 55Mbps, though at the moment, Openreach are banding it at 40Mbps. Our system hasn't adjusted the connection speed, which is why you might see it saying 45.2Mbps on your Member Centre. disregard this for now.
The Broadband profile is currently Downstream: 0.128M-40M with Retransmission (High). Upstream: 0.128M-20M with Retransmission (Low), and the download sync speed is 39.9Mbps.
As there are no line issues that are apparent, and there's clearly room for improvement on the line, I'll raise this matter with my colleague, to see whether a Profile reset is appropriate here. I'll be back in touch tomorrow afternoon with a further update.

Good morning @martin1959
First of all I'd like to apologise for the delayed response. not sure why I said I'd be back in touch on a day that I wasn't in, it was a long week!
anyway, we'll be raising a request with Openreach later today to have the broadband profile reset, this should give your speeds a bit of an increase. Profile resets can take around three working days, so give us a shout later in the week if you're having any further issues.

Thanks for the update @martin1959
I'm sorry to see you're having issues with your speed.
We've submitted the reset earlier on, let us know how it goes over the next few days.

You'd need to do a speed test without the VPN to get a good picture of your true upload speed.
If it helped click the thumb
If it fixed it click 'This fixed my problem'

Hi @martin1959
I'm glad to see your download speed has improved to around 62mbps. The upload speed estimates of your line are between 7.7mbps to 11.9mbps and line tests aren't showing any issues. I agree with @dvorak though, try running a speed test without your VPN on as they're often known to cause performance problems.

Hello @Gandalf @adam945 Not sure where the 62mps comes from as I get 43.8 which is an improvement but not quite 62Mbs.
I used to get 55Mbs for most of the time I have been with Plusynet.
ANy ideas on the upload restriction as the bt wholesale checker says profile is at 20Mbs I get 8 on a good day.
Is there another package available with higher throughput
thanks
M
