Re: Im sick of getting poor speeds..... i think im going to look for new isp

The best place to get your stats from is from your router . Most broadband speed test site vary due to time of day, users accessing test site etc . Just because your speed test vary alot doesn't mean that there is an issue with your service. There are many thing that factor into a speed test. Try posting your router stats and we may be able to help.
Try popping your landline number into this and see what your line estimates are

Re: Im sick of getting poor speeds..... i think im going to look for new isp

Hi @St3

Thanks for getting in touch.

I've tested your line and your broadband is currently syncing at around 69mb/s.

Could you run three speed tests via speedtest.btwholesale.com on a wired ethernet connection (In the test socket of the BT Openreach phone socket preferably) and let me know the outcome?

Thanks,

Dave

Re: Im sick of getting poor speeds..... i think im going to look for new isp

@rongtw A very fair point! No updates on that as yet, I'm afraid.

@St3 Use any speedtester you like - we can take the average of the three tests assuming it doesn't throw in a random 400mb/s Wink

Thanks,

Re: Im sick of getting poor speeds..... i think im going to look for new isp

I followed this info and it wont connect... says somthing about the remote server not knowing my details... i tried 5 times no joy. https://community.plus.net/t5/Library/Fibre-help-How-to-set-up-a-PPPoE-dialler-in-Vista-Windows-7/ba... Altho my details work fine via my router?

Ive run 3 speedtests just a moment ago via my router and altho im hitting over 60 down its still not what ive been getting for the last 12 months normally im around 66/18 even my download speeds have decreased slightly.

firsttest.pngsecondtest.pngthirdtest.png

Last week i lost connection for 30 mins in the early hours of the morning and when i reconnected my ipprofile had jumped up from 67 to 73 ? and for a few days my speeds were about 72/18 check my link https://community.plus.net/t5/Fibre-Broadband/Connection-downtime/td-p/1520373

Im conffused to why my speeds are now dropping again ? and why my ipprofile was raised for a few days then reduced again ?

When my ipprofile was at 73 for the 4 days after it my connection was solid then it dropped and then dropped some more.

So could it be my modem ? or do i need a new updated faceplate ? or is there somthing going on with the cab ?

Also i see that i can get FTTP going off this screeny cab.pngIs this possible ?

Re: Im sick of getting poor speeds..... i think im going to look for new isp

FTTP On Demand is a commercial product not available from Plusnet, costs a four figure sum to install and has equivalent rental costs. The residential FTTP service is a different product.

Your download speeds are obviously within limits so I suspect that you are not going to get much joy there, but good luck!

Re: Im sick of getting poor speeds..... i think im going to look for new isp

Probably because you have no choice. Many of us are seeing speed reductions due to crosstalk. Hopefully vectoring will eventually be widely introduced but I'm not holding my breath. Whether or not that's your problem is anyone's guess.

Speeds are up and down again tonight and my upload is lowest its ever been at 12 meg normally 18. I might try a new router as this ones abit old now see if things improve.
