One thing I have noticed is that I occasionally get short disconnections. When I look in the router logs these disconnections, only usually one or 2 a day, 2 days a week, seem to indicate that a IDS scan has been logged. I notice these disconnections because I have a security camera in my main room that flashes red when it can't get a net connection. Having looked this up here I get the impression these are inbound port 'attacks' being thwarted by the router firewall? It does seem that during these 30 to 60 sec instances you temporary lose your local connection but looking at the router broadband connection that is unaffected and still shows a number of days. PN router firewall set to standard and PN firewall not touched so presumably off. Running Norton Security 2015 so covered that end as well.
