Huge ping spikes of 2000ms~ every 4-5 seconds.

Hey!

 

For the last 3 weeks I've been faced with the problem of huge ping spikes of 1000ms-2000ms every 4-5 seconds. Restarting the plusnet router stops this problem for a few hours, but not permanantly. How would I go about resolving this? Thanks!

EDIT: I've just deleted all ports I opened, and the ping has returned back to normal. Hopefully this was the issue and it won't happen again.
