Hub One and TP-Link5400 router

Any advice please, I want to use my TP Link wireless router instead of the Hub One, I will still use it as a modem but can anyone please suggest the easiest way.

Thanks

Re: Hub One and TP-Link5400 router

Fix

You cannot use the hub one just as a modem. Your options are

1. Use the Hub One but switch the wireless off then set the tp link router up as an access point and connect it to one of the Hub One yellow LAN connectors.

2. Buy a modem. Recommended is a Huawei HG 612 Model 3B. These are readily available on Ebay and can be unlocked if you want to monitor your broadband statistics.

Re: Hub One and TP-Link5400 router

Thanks Baldrick,

I have been using an Apple Airport Extreme in bridge mode which is ok but as its not being supported anymore I have got the TP-Link one instead which has a better range than the Hub One.

Re: Hub One and TP-Link5400 router

I have Plusnet Fibre Broadband Extra - can I use the TP-LINK AC1750 Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Cable Router instead of the Plusnet router?  I understand this TP-LINK router supports 802.11ac ?

Re: Hub One and TP-Link5400 router

Thanks Howdy, as my TPLInk is only a router and not a modem will. It be the same set up as the bridged Apple Extreme or will it just be a case of plug into the hub one and disable the WiFi on the hub one?

@howdy2

The same response as I've just given to @jottylee applies. The Hub One also does 802.11ac WiFi.

Re: Hub One and TP-Link5400 router

Thanks Baldrick1.
Now I'm showing my ignorance (again) - how do you switch the wireless off on the HubOne? Do you just switch it off then reconnect using TP-LINK router connected to LAN by ethernet cable?

Follow this link on how to get the hub settings and turn it off there
