How exactly are consumers connected to fibre cabinets.

As im not techie i want to know how consumers are connected to their fibre cabinets.

Easy, via the telephone line...
FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) is just a stopgap between true fibreoptic (FTTP, Fibre to the Premises) and ADSL (Asynchronous Digital Subscriber Line), as FTTC is just another form of DSL (VDSL, or Very-high-bitrate Digital Subscriber Line), where the actual fibre stops at the nearby cabinet and carries on the rest of the way by copper (or aluminium) wire pairs to the subscriber's premises, this provides faster speeds but doesn't require any major work (replacing the cabling for fibre lines) at the subscriber's end...
What is needed at the subscriber's end is a filtered master socket faceplate and a VDSL modem, supplied and fitted by Openreach, and that's all that's needed to connect a customer to their fibre cabinets...

When an FTTC service is installed, the other part of the work is to add jumper leads in the normal phone cabinet to connect your copper line to a patch panel linking to the nearby fibre cabinet. The existing ADSL jumper leads in the exchange are removed.
The telephone service continues to the exchange over the existing wiring.
