Please see above. Technicolor TG582n already is already up and running. I just want to be able to extend its range using the Netgear wireless-N modem router.

you cant, that is a netgear dsl router, and has a dsl port for main connection.
buy another wireless router, run a ethernet cable and plug into the main port or buy home plugs

Doesn't work at all. Plugged into my computer and the setup screen doesn't come up. OK, I think, I'll use the mywifi-ext.com and mywifiext.net sites that they suggest as a backup. Neither site is live. Just connection errors.
