How did you manage to get fibre installed?

I envy all you people in this section of the forum. Look at you lot showing off with your fibre install problems. Can I ask how did you manage to get it installed? Did you use sometype of witchcraft or was it pure luck? To the Plusnet staff, this is a real question.

Fibre installs can go wrong - not the end user's fault - more to do with the engineer.
Contracted engineers do the worst jobs - from experience on forums.  Some engineers (not just contracted ones) don't turn up!
When I got fibre install the modem wouldn't sync with the DSLAM and PN very helpfully arranged a visit the next day which sorted out the problem.
Mine involved--
Engineer arrived in the time slot, she looked at current setup, changed faceplate, did modem, made sure it worked, connected my router, confirmed internet was working, then they left.  She also made sure to leave a contact number should I get stuck on anything.
A few hours later sync got lost and didn't reconnect.  Tried to contact the engineer and had a look but required a different engineer with more expertise.
The next one came the day after, he looked at the problem and resolved within half an hour.
So overall, not a incredibly bad install but okay.

That was my answer.
I find Plusnet the BEST ISP I've ever dealt with! Fantastic customer service.  Outstanding service overall!
You'll find the majority of people on Plusnet to find Plusnet a very good ISP compared to the big 4 (such as BT, Virgin Media, Sky and TalkTalk)

I`ve always had the same opinion about Plusnet as you until recently.

I had Plusnet ADSL when FTTC became available on my cabinet (well over 2 years ago now), at the time BT had a great offer on Infinity so I got my MAC and 'signed up' with BT (their offer, at the time, was distinctly cheaper over the contract period then Plusnet).  My order with BT kept getting rejected but nobody knew why, over several weeks I was on the phone to them dozens of times, even getting to speak to their 'specialist' team in Scotland, they could never tell me why the order could not be placed and eventually the special offer expired and I was told I'd no longer be eligible despite trying to order during the offer period so I asked Plusnet to upgrade me to FTTC, that order was rejected on the first attempt then someone investigated and, if I recall correctly, they found old 'tags' on my line from when I first had broadband installed (when an order with another ISP failed), in my case Plusnet succeeded where BT failed but I believe that problems like this are usually due to errors within BT Wholesale or Openreach and can be very difficult for ISPs to track down.

I used to be with Vodafone, both for landline and adsl.
VF decided they didn't want us anymore so they informed us that they would offload us job lot to PN.
The idea of fibre never occurred to me before and didn't expect fibre to be available in our rural village. So decided to have a look at what PN had on offer and discovered I could get fibre, the rest was a no brainer.
Decided to pre-empt the offload, get my mac and move to fibre with PN. Didn't stop VF still offloading my original account with them and to this day I'm convinced somewhere in the annuls of PN it still exists.
Anyway, the engineer turned up, installed the new faceplate, went to the cabinet and performed his magic, came back, decided that the wires had been reversed at some point in the past, went back to the cabinet, came back, installed the modem and router and the rest is history.
I too have found PlusNet to be the best ISP I've ever been with and to date have found no equal to the package I'm on at the moment and although I keep looking for better deals nothing short of free everything would convince me to move.
Speed tests are always around the 73 down and 19 up so have no reason at all to complain.

fibre came available in my area for a maximum of 100 customers in 2011, bt refused ot give me infinity so I switched to plusnet (who's adsl was far better in terms of stability even if it was a bit slower) then after 2 weeks I asked for fibre and they got it sorted for a few weeks later, been with them ever since with only a few niggly little problems, my biggest gripe with fibre though is every time some moron opens the cabinet to hook someone else up they disconnect my line then they hit the dlsam reset button and my speed takes a week to recover, why there doing stuff like that in the evenings and at weekends is beyond me though but everytime its happened ive looked out the window to see an open reach van down the road (be it 10pm or 6 am or any time inbetween ......)
BT kept telling me they couldn't fix the quality of my adsl service (which was up and down like a yo-yo after the first 6 months) swapping to a different line card (moving to plusnet) fixed that problem, they told me I couldn't get fibre, moving provider fixed that problem as well.
the only thing you need to be aware of is if you switch to talk talk and then cancel your likely to have problems in the future switching providers /
