Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

If you run an extended ping to an external website from your machine, do you see timeouts? From a command line, leave this running for about 15 minutes. Feel free to replace BBC with a site/service you know you're having problems with (as long as it responds to pings):

And thanks for looking into it from me. Mine router is Plus Net Hub One.

And yes. Extended ping shows between 20 to 40% losses. Sometimes being without a single loss for about 10 minutes (mostly in the day time), and getting worse as the evening time approaches. But around 20-40% all day today.

Been a customer for 7 months, and always worked like a charm. Problems started this week only, and nothing changed on out end. Here is a screenshot attached

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Hi B33Dee,

We've been experiencing problems with PN for the past few months now (packet loss, high ping...), and I was wondering how you went about agreeing no early termination fees with them, as I've been quoted £200+ if I cancel my service with them.

Thanks in advance

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Started warping allover the place playing arma3 online recently. Everything was fine a couple of weeks ago,now getting 5-10% packet loss. Looking at the length of this topic isn't comforting. Are Plusnet taking this seriously or am I better bailing?

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

This absolutely ridiculous. Getting constant 30-40% packet loss in CSGO. Can barely use teamspeak due to the packet loss. WoW is unplayable due to getting massive ping spikes upwards of 600ms (21 being the normal latency). What am I supposed to do, play single player games like some sort of savage?

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Single games? what kind of heathen are you?

But in seriousness glad to see loads of people having this issue

LoL and WoW with packet loss is one of the most frustrating things ever. The reason i signed up to fiber was for a reliable strong connection =(

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Well my speeds are much better now, not sure if it's the time of day but getting 7.9MB/s download from real usage, up from 5MB/s and low pings. I think pcl-bng01 means I am still on old network, no idea how new is doing.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Hi All,

I totally agree to most of the comments here, PlusNet over the past 2-3 months have been supplying a substandard shoddy service and should come on this community site, apologise and compensate it’s consumers.

But what do we all hear “Silence” Lips_are_sealed

Not one Spokesperson has said we are sorry! Ticked_off

Not one PlusNet Executive has posted a written apology! Ticked_off

I’ve also conveyed in previous posts here about the time it takes for a response to problems raised. Crazy3

I’ve been waiting over a week for them to reply to a ticket I opened two months ago about the problems I’ve had to endure. Crazy

72 hours supposedly “That’s a Laugh” Cheesy

I’d be happy if they just released me from my contract for free so I can transfer over to a supplier that actually knows what they are doing.

Can’t wait for my contract to end, here’s counting the days lol. Thumbs_Up

All the best.

Hope you all have better luck than me.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

@bobpullen The TBB live graph seems to frequently stop updating after a day or two of activity.

 Here is updated live graph.

I've also noticed today when I run speedtests, the upload speed appears to be uncapped at 15 mbps at the moment. I'm a legacy 40/20 customer and upstream speed had been capped at 9.5mbps since 1st August.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

@bobpullen

As I reported last evening my speeds had dropped to 20/5 Mb must not have been saturday evening congestion like the bad old days as I'm still down this morning.   19.86/4.66 Mb

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

I was a tester on WoW, for about a week lol.....

Saturday evening was slightly better for me, 1 or 2 disconnections per hour. In WoT the ping was again quite spiky but this time from around 25 - 150ms with micro freezing.

So if being disconnected less means they are actually tweaking things that has to be something... ?

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

I'd just like to add to this thread and say that i'm experiencing the same problem,
after around 18:00 packet loss is around 14% making online games unplayable.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Been fairly good here for a few days now.

You are currently connected to gateway psb-ir01.

This is located in Southbank Point of Presence.

My live graph which is pinging my PS4 through the dmz setting in the Plusnet 2704n router. Note - any long red spikes are where the PS4 was turned off briefly to change the disc. The eject mechanism is broken so the PS4 has to be turned off, then the manual eject screw is turned to eject and insert the new disc before turning the PS4 back on. PS4 was turned off overnight but on again now. No problems with gaming or chatting with friends during games.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

I'm also affected by packet loss and a drop in download speed from around 35Mbps to 14-18Mbps. Support ticket logged but ETA is 5 days even before PlusNet start looking at it.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

I finally got through to their tech help and I was told it's an issue their end but couldn't give me an ETA of a fix

I'm going to keep detailed notes on it all and then when it's fixed I'll ask for a refund.
Or if it continues for any length of time I'll be pushing for my contract to be cancelled
