Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

@bobpullen

As requested I have recreated the live graph:

My Broadband Ping - Plusnet Dynamic IP

Here is the old graph on fixed IP for comparison:

My Broadband Ping - Plusnet

I have also done a speedtest on the BT wholesale checker and the download speed is back to 51.44Mbps.

Time will tell.

@bobpullen  Been running a graph for a while since you switched me from the static ip back to the dynamic ip this morning. This is it so far.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Noticed my speed has dropped loads today. Gone from 72mbps earlier down to 22.3mbps just now. I'm currently running the TBB graph on an old router which allows me to use WAN ping. Will switch back to my Plusnet router later and see if the speed improves.

Paul.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Edit:
This was a respond to post from Jelv, which I cannot see how to quote using my phone.

Unless the user is using a PlusNet supplied hub one. As these do not respond to pings on the WAN.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

@RichardB the Hub One won't respond to pings but devices connected to it can. I have a Now TV box in the DMZ and it quite happily responds to pings.

@RichardB

Good point - but it would be easy for Bob to test pinging the IP from the command line first.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Thanks all, from what we've established, things at Southbank/PSB have been good since early hours of this morning when we made the physical change I referenced.

Partly due to the impending IOS10 update, we're expecting a busy night tonight, so we've had to bring additional capacity back online in preparation. These additional links being live are likely to result in some packet loss creeping back in at PSB as the afternoon/evening progresses.

For those routing through Colindale, we're not expecting much of a change this evening compared to days previous.

If you are helping us out by posting your TBB graphing, can you make sure that you're using the live graphing links so we can keep an eye on them over time? It seems some of you have posted static snapshots instead:

There's no reason why you couldn't create extra graphs yourself on TBB monitoring other user's IPs!

True, but I think that stops you guys from setting them up. Last I recall, TBB only permits one monitor per IP.

Not as simple as that. The loss isn't seen from all destinations/sources.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

Anyone else now experiencing frequent disconnections? Been happening ever since I got a static IP. Connection just cuts out at irregular intervals. It usually comes back after about 10 minutes at most, but today it's been down for over an hour!

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

My Broadband Ping - hgfshgsh2

Which gateway

You are currently connected to gateway pcn-ir01.

This is located in Colindale Point of Presence.

Hello, I thought I would add my live graph just in case it is of any help. I have been getting the same kind of packet loss over the weekend and from before.

My BTW Performance test results are:

38.82 Mbps Down | 6.08 Mbps Up | 46 ms Ping (first test showed 270 ping?! packet loss?)

My line profile is - 40.08 Mbps down | 10 Mbps Up

Speedtest.net tests results are: (failed the first time)

38.84 Mbps Down | 6.29 Mbps Up | 9 ms Ping.

Hope this helps.

Edit #1. No disconnections.

I meant for you to confirm whether their router responded to pings before setting up a TBB monitor and then finding it was solid red!

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

@bobpullen Here is my graph, been having problems with game disconnection on Xbox since 01/09 when I was moved over to the new network along with having to reload websites. 40 to 50% packet loss last night at peak. Somewhat worried about this evening as you say Apple release iOS 10 and Playstaion 4 v4. I am connected through Colindale. My Broadband Ping - Js I have had no complaints with Plusnet in the 18 months I have been a customer and my family have not complained at me in that time. Now they are complaining 😞 hope this gets resolved soon. Pleased to see at least someone is providing feedback to customers. Thank you.

Re: High packet loss and other DNS issues

My Broadband Ping - eatyourteeth.netV2

Still the have the previous issue with speed I mentioned before, but streaming, video playback and gaming has been mostly fine, there are still some slight hiccups of packet loss on my graph. Not sure how often I'll update on this, when requested I guess.
