Hi all,
So as of a few weeks ago I have started noticing a few issues on my internet. As of late to the TeamSpeak server I use I am getting a regular packet loss of around 5-10% loss on incoming and 10-20% on out going packets. I think this has been affecting other services as lately I cannot watch a stream on Twitch.tv for more than about 30 seconds without it buffering, even at a low quality setting which is no right at all.
Last few weeks I have had a huge problem with connecting to certain websites with Chrome pushing a DNS error message, Most of the time I could swap my DNS between Googles and OpenDNS and it would work but still not how it should be working. This wasn't on every site either, things like Reddit and Youtube would work perfectly but Facebook and other sites would kick back the error.
Now the DNS issues have fixed themselves it seems but still getting major packet loss on TeamSpeak and cannot watch Twitch streams. I am getting frustrated that I can't seem to fix the issue.
I am using the basic PlusNet Sagemcom Router and the BT OpenReach modem.
Any help please would be amazing!

Hi tommygunyeah,
You're not alone on this one - there's still some of us experiencing a problem which was claimed fixed last week.
Plusnet are looking into it for me at the moment, but during the day and evening I'm getting anything between 10% and 50% (last test) packet loss, making any high bandwidth application unusable. Gaming is a no go.
Open a fault with Plusnet, and see if a community manager here might be able to advise you further as well.

Thank you for the reply, it's good to know it's not just me.
I'm assuming the only way to raise a fault is over the phone with PlusNet?
I did just see the thread that recently got locked bellow and thought it was linked to this.

Either over the phone or via their online chat I usually find is best.

Yeah I have the exact same issue here. So do a lot of people, but the issue was "fixed" apparently and the thread talking about it was closed.
Doesn't seem fixed to me...

Yeah it does seem a lot of people are having big issues. Is it mostly in the evenings for you?

I do have a fault report open already - 130217883. Waiting on another reply to see if anything has changed, but the last I heard, the line seemed fine... so I'm not sure what to think!

I've been seeing the exact same issues - thought I was going mad but sort of glad to see others reporting the same thing.
I have a question open too: #130555909 - some response from support regarding "WP profile was incorrect. I've manually updated." However, issues remain for me.

Same problem here. Only seems to be during the day and early evening.
Here's an interesting test. Two google servers. Both show no packet loss late night/early morning but from around 09:00 onwards, one regularly drops packets. Each server uses a different route. So, to my untrained eye, part of the network is overloaded.

I randomly picked a few other sites. All of those routed via be3-3104.psb-ir01.plus.net showed packet loss. Conversely, routes via be3-3106.psb-ir02.plus.net were all okay. So it's difficult to simply attribute this to slow server response.
I don't have enough visibility into the BT or Plusnet network to tell where the congestion is, but the route via be3-3104.psb-ir01.plus.net looks like a good place to start.

Well this is my traffic graph for the last 24 hours:

Surprisingly, this isn't the worst it's been. However there is a consistent packet loss of around 5%, climbing as high as 60% during the evenings, even when the connection is not under load.
I've been told that the network isn't under load, and am waiting on confirmation of an openreach engineer visit. Not sure if it'll turn anything up if the problem ends up being something with Plusnet's network, but there you go.
Problem started a couple of weeks ago. I switched to static IP which resolved it for a while, but then the problems started again (and since it's not helped permanently resolve it, I've since cancelled the static IP).
