Help with IP profile

I moved my line to PS a week ago

When the line moved I got

Upstream rate = 6874 Kbps, Downstream rate = 35236 Kbps

Since then the sync speed as got faster a few times it is now

Upstream rate = 6773 Kbps, Downstream rate = 46797 Kbps

But my Ip profile has only gone up once a few days ago from 35 to 37

Should the IP profile go up again to match the 46797 Kbps I am syncing at ?Huh

Thanks for any help / ideas

Re: Help with IP profile

Hi @David661

The profile you are referring to is something adjusted on Openreachs side based on previous line performance. It doesn't really impact your speed at all, and I can see that the line is unbanded, which is the only type of profile setting which can restrict speed. This profile will most likely adjust over time, without you seeing any difference in speeds.

I can see that you are currently syncing at 45Mbps, which is higher than the profile is set at, so everything is working as expected.

Re: Help with IP profile

Hi

Using the PN speedtest I get

http://mybroadbandspeed.speedtestcustom.com/result/d4a580d0-a31f-11e8-9d3b-1582c97a996d

It looks like I got about 6000 in overheads - is that about as it should be ?

Re: Help with IP profile

Did you have anything running in the background at all?

In addition was that test done via a wired or wireless connection?

Re: Help with IP profile

Hi

Nothing else running and wired (I do not have wireless here)

Here is an odd thing when I first moved to Plusnet if I did a OOKLA speedtest it showed as was connected to BT

After a few days it showed as connected to Plusnet

This afternoon it shows as BT again

The latest speedtest gives 42.73 so that is up and

The current Downstream BRAS rate is: 41.19 Mbps so that is up as well

The main thing is the line is faster (and just as stable) then when it was with TT

I guess that is 'cos Plusnet use a faster NGA profile than TT does

I asked TT why they would not use a faster profile, TT claim the profile they use is more stable, I cannot see that 'cos my line is just as stable as it was when it was with TT. I wonder if TT choose a profile that will give slower sync speed for many customers as it is a good way to data throttle by the back door.
