HIgh packet loss - gaming and streaming are nearly impossible

The title says it all. It's been a recurring issue to be honest and I understand that some causes can be out of Plusnet ability to fix but still, I can only report it.

Today the whole day I've got patchy connection. Also got DNS errors since a couple of days. This evening I decided to monitor it for some time and the file attached is the result.

The summary is as follows:

Ping statistics for 216.58.210.228:80
     10461 probes sent.
     9127 successful, 1334 failed.  (13% fail)
Approximate trip times in milli-seconds (successful connections only):
     Minimum = 15.888ms, Maximum = 1986.195ms, Average = 162.094ms
Jitter:
     Minimum = 0.064ms, Maximum = 1935.821ms, Average = 471.533ms

I'm sure you can understand that a 13% fail ratio is unacceptable. 1% would have been acceptable.

Re: HIgh packet loss - gaming and streaming are nearly impossible

Hi there @thecrius,

I'm really sorry for the ongoing frustration this is causing.

I can see you've been in touch a few times and we have pointed you in the direction of channel changes and splitting the 5Ghz off from the 2.4Ghz frequency.

How did you get on? It looks like the problem was seemingly remedied for some time. Have you tried further wireless troubleshooting since?

Just out of interest, have you tried connecting via a wired connection and are you still getting these spikes via this method?

(apologies if you have already answered this question before)
