HG612 installed ping down, line speed up - stats help?

Following this thread:
http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,139508.msg1232598.html#msg1232598
I decided to get an HG612 from the bay, and unlock it. I installed it yesterday (Saturday) with no immediate improvement in speed, or ping. However this morning somthing happened:

Modem stats (below) show that line speed is now up to  79999, and as can be seen - ping has halved. I'd appreciate anyone who knows explaining the process for  this (likely to be due to change of modem, or has new profile been applied?), and any interpretation of the stats below (particularly - is G.INP enabled).
Finally - plusnet profile still shows 69.4 - can I expect that to go up automatically to match line speed.
Thanks:

Re: HG612 installed ping down, line speed up - stats help?

Not sure about the Plusnet profile, but there is also the BT one ( as seen at http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ and Further Diagnostics) that can get stale.  That will get reset appropriately if you disconnect/reconnect the router (NOT the modem).  It may already have happened on the modem resync, but doesn't always.

Re: HG612 installed ping down, line speed up - stats help?

Thanks for heads up sjptd. Read that so many times now, I should know it - but of course had forgotten.
BT Profile increased from 69.56 to 77.35 (does that sound right for a 79999 line speed?)

Plusnet profile has yet to follow. I'll check again in a few hours.

Re: HG612 installed ping down, line speed up - stats help?

The plusnet profile is supposed to update automatically but it doesn't always happen I believe it checks every 4 hours or something along those lines which is long time to wait for the hope that it happens automatically  when it can take but a moment for someone on the CRT or phone support to do.
77.35 seems about right

Yes, that is exactly right.  My line also syncs at 79999 and my IP Profile is 77.35.  Your PlusNet line profile will catch up shortly, but if it hasn't by this time tomorrow then a quick call to CS will get it done while your on the phone.
The improvement you've seen is down to the HG612 managing G.INP correctly.  I'm guessing you had a ECI modem before, but you're connected to an Huawei Street Cabinet.  ECI devices don't always play nicely with Huawei Cabinets, hence the changes BTOR are making to the G.INP rollout.

Re: HG612 installed ping down, line speed up - stats help?

Just rebooted router again, and plusnet profile is now up - but only to 77.2.
Speed test slightly lower than on the ECI modem before G.INP applied, but that might be due to time of day.
I'll check again a few times over the next days.
