Gaming latency

Hi all,
Im new to PN but need some clarification.
I have used BT in the past and get no issues with latency whilst playing online however the story is different now..
Ive just tried to join my favorite CS server and my ping is going up and down from 15 to 250ms+ and by the way until I joined plusnet I was getting a stead 50-60ms ping on 4g with my phone tethered!
I have just done a speed test (49down/9up) and a ping test (27ms jitter is 24) so why the  hell am i getting these really bad pings?
You cant seriously tell me that I have to pay the extra £5 per month to be able to play online? Really!?

Re: Gaming latency

Same problem here, ping fluctuating massively, getting 30+ms jitter and my thinkbroadband ping graph is all over the place.
One engineer said line was fine, another engineer said line should be replaced but after testing it doesn't need doing.
Thread now has no response so looks like I just have to put up with it.

Re: Gaming latency

You'll need to enable your router to respond to ICMP pings Wink

@createdbydan
Just to confirm is this over a wired connection or wireless?
@sspen63
You've uploaded double what you've downloaded in the last two days. Have you made sure there's nothing running in the background?
