GEA Test Request Please

Please can you run me a GEA Test for our account.

The BT estimates page is showing a Bridge Tap on our line which I'm 99% sure has ruined our upload for the last four years.

Many Thanks.

Re: GEA Test Request Please

A bridge tap is generally a wiring fault. Is your router plugged into the master telephone socket and do you have any extension sockets?

Also are you using any extension cabling between the router and the phone socket?

Re: GEA Test Request Please

Thanks Thrall

This has been ongoing since we had FTTC Enabled, the Drop cable enters our house and goes directly to the MK3 Master Socket, the Hub One connects directly to this, there's a single extension wired to the master socket via the extension port, this runs 15mtrs and carries the connection to our home phone.

Unplugging this extension makes absolutely no difference to the sync speed of the modem, the BT guy got the same sync on his his tester with the extension unplugged, but at the time he didn't test for a Bridge Tap.

This is the first time a Bridge Tap has appeared on our BT Estimates page, and the wiring hasn't change internally since we installed the service four years ago.
