Re: GEA Line test request

@Gandalf

Profile Name 0.128M-74M Downstream, Retransmission High - 0.128M-20M Upstream, Retransmission High

so, it appear my line is banded at 74Meg for almost 2 weeks now. Any chance of checking DLM caution counter?

Re: GEA Line test request

2 weeks is nothing, wait till you're banded for 9months! (as I was at only 32Mb down.. back to 40Mb now though Tongue ) Patience... (yes i've seen your posts over at Kitz, etc.. Wink )

Re: GEA Line test request

9 months to wait before DLM to removed banded is a joke really. Why should I have to wait nine months?

Re: GEA Line test request

If you don't fiddle with anything it might be shorter or it could be longer..  9 months was my experience with the 'banding' system and even people over at Kitz have all given different time frames.  If you were to ask over at 'ADSLGuide', oops, 'Thinkbroadband' you'd probably get another sample of people giving different ranges.

The DLM system has flaws, and is / can be a mystery to most end users but it does seem to work..  I'd just say that be thankful that you're banded near the very top range of the 80/20 provisioning, remember that some people (not through their own choice) are still struggling to get 10Mbit connections let alone the full 80Mb.

But I guess, yeah, it does seem "unfair" to start with, but you soon forget about it.... the main thing is that you can still get 'online', you just have to wait another 5 seconds for a download to finish so no real big deal. Smiley

Re: GEA Line test request

since you will be leaving Plusnet for Pulse8 after Christmas why should they bother spending time with you when there are more deserving cases on here

This is a public forum..  not a personal 1 to 1 support forum. So if "I" or anyone wants to pipe up then we can Wink Anyway Adslmax / goldenfibre, you've been with more ISP's than I've had hot dinners so I'd have thought you had an excellent knowledge of how ADSL / VDSL works in this country Tongue Cheesy

Re: GEA Line test request

@goldenfibre

I'm happy to arrange an engineer visit for you to see if they can reset the line.

It's worth noting though that if the engineer does find no fault with the service then a call-out charge will likely be applicable.

However, do you think you'll feel the difference in speed between having a sync of 74mbps or a sync of 80mbps?

In my very honest opinion, you should be able to do as much on the speed you have as you could do on 80mbps.

Re: GEA Line test request

@Gandalf It's ok. No need for an engineer out because of openreach charge £165 if no fault is found within my property. Because I leave it for a while until after xmas see how DLM pan it out. It might restored it back by the time before New Year's Day. But I have to wait until DLM can do itself. If nothing happen until after xmas, I let u know.

It's a bit tricky to ask over on the TBB forums if you've been banned over there!

@jelv

'ADSLGuide' is nothing to do with FTTC. Different DLM rules.

Re: GEA Line test request

I think the guys over on Thinkbroadband would be a bit surprised to be told they had nothing to do with FTTC!

Just see where you end up if you visit http://www.adslguide.org.uk
