Re: G.INP

Well how bizarre - after reporting about a week and a half ago that G.Inp had returned to my upstream connection. I awake this morning to find it has been removed again (it is still on downstream).
So not sure why that would be.
The brief history is...
1) G.Inp got applied to US and DS
2) G.Inp got removed from US but stayed on DS
3) G.Inp returned to US
4) G.Inp has been removed from US again.
This is a Huawei cabinet with HG612 modem.
I think I have dropped about 2Mbps from the upload speed as a result of the removal from US.
What will happen next I wonder.

Re: G.INP

it did seem strange that it was put back on the upstream to begin with maybe that was a mistake and openreach i have now sorted that i dunno hard to say.

Re: G.INP

Yes, it maybe was a mistake. Bit of a bummer really. The only good thing is that my US seems to be on fastpath now. I still seem to be synced lower on US since the removal of G.Inp. Whether that is due to the lack of G.Inp or just the timing of a resync, I am not sure.

Re: G.INP

May of been a mistake, or could it of been removed if DLM deemed the upstream to be stable enough for it to switch it back to Fastpath?
As you said jafreer, it will be interesting as to what happens next, i.e. if the error rate reaches the threshold, will it apply G.INP again or apply interleaving.  Sad

Re: G.INP

@elfish - what you said is interesting because when I had G.Inp on US, the interleaving depth was 4 (IIRC). Now it is on fastpath so there might be something to what you said about it removing G.Inp because it can manage a fastpath connection.
The only flaw in that is if I lose upstream speed because of the change. Then there is no point in removing G.Inp because it is a detrimental change if I lose speed. Unless of course pings are better (which I haven't seen after testing). Then does that mean DLM favours a change that improves ping but reduces speed?
Maybe I need to inject some errors back in to take me off fastpath and see if G.Inp is reapplied. That would test the theory I suppose.

Re: G.INP

The drop in US speed maybe just one of those random things, unless other error correction/protection (cannot remember which one's which) has been applied to the US.
Could you post the current stats from your modem?

Well to be fair the way openreach has rolled out G.INP from the start is more closer to GIMP   Cheesy
