G. INP explanation

I've been of the forums for a while, it looks like a lot has happened - especially G. INP.
Please could someone explain to me what this is, what does it do, pros and cons of it, and most of all, how do I check I have it.
Please do not leave a link or anything as I'm quite confused and just need someone to simply explain it.
