G.INP enabled on line sync speed increased profile reset?

G.INP has been enabled on my line after about 2 weeks after the install and as a result my sync speed has jumped about 10Mbs  Plus net is still capping my speed back to 68 though. Can this be reset, i know it can be done

Daft question, but how do you know if G.IMP is active on a line?

Not daft at all. I'm using a Openreach Huawei HG612 modem (Supplied before the hub one). You can unlock these and access detailed line information using a tool called DSL Stats (Guide can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/y92nsyd3). From here you can see if it is enabled as per the attached photo

Thanks for the info there.....I actually have a HG612 on order, so hopefully I will be able to keep an eye on line stats myself instead of waiting on PN to give me details.

@lewisp8 From what I can see the profile has increased?

Let us know if that isn't the case

Re: G.INP enabled on line sync speed increased profile reset?

I've just had a look and it has increased to 72 but there's still another 7 Mb to go. I understand the profile will be +/- 1or 2Mb of your sync but 7 seems a bit extreme.

@lewisp8

I was just looking at your attached pics, the one that shows the modem stats figures there is rows that have error counts...CRC Errors, FEC Errors & HEC Errors....I see that you picture shows errors on the CRC row and also on the HEC row....is that something you need to have looked into or is that a known issue/fault with the HG612 modem firmware?

Re: G.INP enabled on line sync speed increased profile reset?

With downstream G.inp active  (retransmission high) the BT IP profile will be around 91% of sync speed so 72 Mbps looks about right to me.

Re: G.INP enabled on line sync speed increased profile reset?

There's also retransmission low where the IP profile is 96.7% of the sync speed.

Re: G.INP enabled on line sync speed increased profile reset?

I'd take a guess that may be the case for "retransmission low" i.e. a lower level of G,inp with lower overheads. The 91% profile comes about because the sync rate reported by the GEA test is lower than the actual router sync rate and the BT profile is based on this lower sync value.

Re: G.INP enabled on line sync speed increased profile reset?

So what exactly is G.INP? and is it something you want on the line or not?  Sounds like its slowing down the sync rate a little bit.

@MatthewWheeler said the profile had increased so input from the op would be useful.

@Malcky have a look at http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/retransmission.htm
I'm in the pub so linking may not work Grin
