Fibre up and down like a yo-yo

Hello,
It's been a really long time since i've posted (a good sign  Wink ) however my fibre is up and down like a yo-yo and chat said " my lines been solid for 20 odd days "
I've noticed an increase in PINGS, jumped from 10ms to 20 ms? I guess DLM has applied interleaving? Now reading about DLM being turnt off etc i'm not sure what's true however, if DLM hasn't been turnt off and my fibre becomes stable again. Will this remove interleaving? My speed hasn't dropped at all......
Look forward to a reply  Smiley
Thanks

The increase in ping time of the order of 10ms is a good sign that DLM has intervened. Strange that your speed hasn't dropped, though. You'd normally see that alongside the increase in latency.
If whatever caused the intervention has gone away, then DLM will choose to de-intervene, but it can take a while - perhaps a few days, perhaps a few weeks to beyond a month.

Your connection is pretty stable

With regards to interleaving due to the recent changes to DLM it's a bit harder to tell if its on or not.
I'll update this for you when I know for sure.

Re: Fibre up and down like a yo-yo

Hello,
Yeah it seem's very weird how, after 19days it starts to drop a lot. I've a fault ticket open with you guys which i've noticed some interesting stats not picked up
Down Stream Line Rate 42.2 Mbps 46.7 Mbps 45.4 Mbps
Up Stream Line Rate 14.3 Mbps 16.0 Mbps 14.6 Mbps
Up Time 32010 Sec 85558 Sec 75504 Sec
Retrains 0 1 0
Profile Rate: 43270 20000
Test File Size: 28233480 350166
File Transfer Average Throughput/Session: 11510 980
Throughput is actually that poor... I tried to wget a file (WIRED) from http://ipv4.download.thinkbroadband.com/1GB.zip and it was 1.30M/s - 1.70M/s
I've replied to ticket.......... Just what i need being 4hours away from the premises  Sad

Re: Fibre up and down like a yo-yo

Is anyone at the premises able to try connecting via PPPoE as we've suggested on the ticket?

Re: Fibre up and down like a yo-yo

Matthew,
It's a great excuse to visit family and have a few beers with friends. On another note, doing this will it tell DLM my line isn't stable? still as it's been connected for 4days so far. Or does that only happen when link from premises drops to cabinet?
Thanks

Re: Fibre up and down like a yo-yo

Nope it shouldn't cause any issues with DLM.
You'll lose your connection with us however as long as the modem stays on DLM will not take any action.

Re: Fibre up and down like a yo-yo

Hello,
I guess whatever was causing this has fixed itself, I just checked mrtg graph and noticed interleaving was removed friday at some point. Now got a nice 9-11ms ping
http://prntscr.com/5j8bxd
before i blow my own trumpet, can i have a radius graph? I know one day there was a power outage for 1-2hours
Thanks

Re: Fibre up and down like a yo-yo

Glad to hear that everything is back in working order.
Here's your RADIUS graph

Looks like the power outage was on the 18th from what we can see.
If there's anything further we can help with please let us know.
