Fibre switchover, very slow download speed, but upload fine

hi there,

my fibre was activated yesterday, but the bt wholesale speedtest is showing:

1.9Mbs Down

15.67Mbps Up

Helpdesk info:

6. Data rate: 19946 / 60000
7. Maximum data rate: 19936 / 59860
8. Noise margin: 6.0 / 6.5
9. Line attenuation: 20.2 / 17.5
10. Signal attenuation: 20.0 / 17.5

is there still something that needs switching over on your end to enable the full(ish) download speed?

Could you disconnect/reconnect the router and try again, I believe that should be up to speed for you now.

thanks, harry. that's improved things a bit, but the download speed is only marginally above the upload at 16.35 Mbps.

i wonder if there's a line problem in the premises (only recently moved in) affecting things as there is a constant high pitched squeal and random clicks when making phone calls.

i'm at work right now, so can't test the connection directly in the master socket, but i'll do so later and post my results.

Once you've had chance to test in the master socket, if you're still having problems I'd recommend raising it at http://faults.plus.net
