Fibre speed been down for a few days now...

I'm on FTTC with the final few hundred meters by cable from the cabinet to the house and normally get ~60 megs up and ~18 down and it's been pretty consistent for a good while.  Last few days the download speed has dropped to ~18 megs, the up speed hasn't changed.  I've checked using the BT speed tester and with a couple of others and they all come up with roughly the same figures. I've turned the router off and left it for ~10 - 15 minutes before switching it on again, that made no difference.  Incidentally my sync speed is ~64 megs.  I wonder if anyone at Plusnet could do some checks and see what the problem is.

I know lots of people get much poorer speeds but I've been spoiled!.

Re: Fibre speed been down for a few days now...

Hello @PNnewbie,

Thanks for taking the time to get in touch.

I'm sorry you're not receiving the speeds you were seeing before, are those speeds you're seeing over a wired or wireless connection?

I've performed a GEA test over your service today & you are currently syncing at 65.5mbps download, which is within the estimates of your line & above MGS.

Thanks.

Re: Fibre speed been down for a few days now...

Hi Mads, thanks for picking this up...I'm using ethernet to connect to the router and nothing's changed at this end - master socket to router then via ethernet to PC.  Just ran another test with BT performance Test:

Download Speed (Mbps):  19.40

Upload Speed (Mbps): 18.43

Latency (ms):  13

I've used a couple of other testers and they report similar speeds.

Thanks for your help.

Fix

Thanks for getting back to us @PNnewbie

Upon further investigation it appears that there was a profile on our end restricting your speeds.

I've now corrected this and dropped your connection so you should pick up the new profile straight away.

Can you try retesting the speeds and let us know how you get on?

Hi Mathew,

Seems to have done the trick as my speeds are back to normal now.  Wonder how this 'profile' came about?

Thanks again.
