Fibre router question.

Hi all, I'm a bit of a technophobe so apologies if this is a ridiculous question! We recently had fibre installed when we moved house and were told we'd get roughly 40mbs download speed. Although it's noticeably quicker than our 3mbs ADSL connection we had previously, it certainly doesn't seem to be 10 times quicker. On our Plusnet fibre router, the Broadband light isn't illuminated, just the Internet light. Is that right, or might that explain why it doesn't seem as quick as we were expecting?
Many thanks for any input Smiley

Re: Fibre router question.

Hi Andy
Welcome to the Plusnet forums.
To find out your speed, have you ran the BTW Speed Test at http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/
If not, then just click the "Yes" button and then "Begin Test". When if completes, click on the "Further Diagnostics" button and just enter your phone number on the next page. Then click to run it. The resulting page will show you your BT Speed profile details.
Also Plusnet have a speed profile which can only be found at https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed . It will prompt you for your Plusnet username and password before showing you the speed details.
The results will show if both BTW and Plusnet have set up your account correctly.
And finally, always run the speed tests via an Ethernet cable to the router as Wifi speeds will nearly always be much slower.
As I don't have the Plusnet router, I cannot comment on what the lights mean.

Re: Fibre router question.

When the 2704N router is connected to a fibre modem, the broadband light shouldn't be illuminated. I think it is only seen on ADSL.
