Fibre has returned back to ADSL speeds

Occasionally I have experienced speeds consistent with fibre, but then it reverts back to the old ADSL speeds.

Sometimes re-booting the new router fixes the issue, but not always.

Re: Fibre has returned back to ADSL speeds

Hi @Stierage

I've tested your line and your connection is currently in sync at 47.2mb/s which is at the lower end of the estimate for your line.

Could you please plug your router into the test socket as per the instructions here and then run a speed test via a device that is connected with a wired ethernet connection and post the results here?

Thanks

Dave

Re: Fibre has returned back to ADSL speeds

Thanks for the reply.

I checked again this morning and the speed had gone back to about 40mbs. This is the frustration. When we need the fast connection we often find it slow and then it returns to normal when we’re off to work. The whole evening yesterday it was between 2 and 9mbs.

Re: Fibre has returned back to ADSL speeds

Thanks for confirming @Stierage

Could you pop us a screenshot across of the speed when this reoccurs so that we can investigate further?

My colleagues are in the office until 10pm every night so we'll be able to run line tests etc when relevant.

Best wishes

Dave

Will do, although I did send a screenshot as an attachment in my first message.

Re: Fibre has returned back to ADSL speeds

OK, thanks it would definitely be best to build up a picture of when this is affecting you. It would also be a good idea to try the test over ethernet Dave mentioned when the speeds to drop so we can differentiate if the problem lies with the broadband connection itself or relates more to how the router is performing in relation to the WiFi signal.

Re: Fibre has returned back to ADSL speeds

Hi @Stierage

Thanks for highlighting this.

I've just tested your connection and you're still in sync at around 43mb/s.

Could you confirm that the test you've provided was run via a wired, ethernet connection with the router connected to the test socket as per the instructions here?

Best wishes

Dave
